About Walkers Retreat

Located within Franklin’s long-established urban growth boundary, Walkers Retreat will be designated as Village Green should it be annexed into the city. This will allow Walkers Retreat to serve as an eastern gateway into the city of Franklin that will preserve and enhance the rural aesthetic of the area.

Consisting of nearly 500 acres of beautiful terrain, Walkers Retreat will maintain over 70% of open space – nearly 350 acres – as stipulated by city standards. This land will offer parks, trails, common areas and other amenities that benefit the entire community, not just the residents who live there. Additionally, any development on the north side of Highway 96 will be set back more than 200 yards from the road, ensuring the view shed remains virtually unchanged from what is seen today.

Walkers Retreat will feature three distinct clustered village neighborhoods consisting of a variety of housing types ranging from townhomes and cottages to traditional single-family homes. In addition, the development plans to incorporate a senior living component, as well as light commercial businesses including restaurants, shopping and services such as nail salons and barbershops.

The state of Tennessee recently completed its $120 million expansion of Highway 96 East. These improvements have greatly alleviated traffic issues east of I-65 and created more favorable conditions for strategic development along this corridor.

Williamson County-based Haury & Smith is the developer of Walkers Retreat Brothers Steve and Reese Smith – along with their sons Matt and Reese respectively, operate the company, which is one of the oldest, family-owned companies in Middle Tennessee. The Smith family, known for their development of high-quality communities, has deep roots in Williamson County and will continue to live and raise their families here long after Walkers Retreat is completed.
